(Port) Wine of the month February 2021: Niepoort Quinado

The ancient Quinados contained old Tawny Port and quinine to prevent malaria in the former Portuguese colonies. Niepoort picked this idea up and bottled a new Quinado – probably the first since the 1970s. The company recommends to taste this straight, with ice, tonic and/or fruit. I like the combination with ice and fruit the most as it balances the bitterness. Quite nice. NR
